
The South African Gymnastics Federation (SAGF) is the governing body for gymnastics in the geographic bounds of South Africa.
The SAGF governs 9 disciplines: Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Trampoline Gymnastics which includes Tumbling, Aerobic Gymnastics, Acrobatic Gymnastics, Rope Skipping, Gym for All, and Schools Gymnastics. SAGF is affiliated to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the African Gymnastic Union (UAG, Sports and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC).
The Arnold Classic Africa will see participation from the gymnastics disciplines of Acrobatic and Aerobic Gymnastics. The Acrobatic Gymnastics Competition will take place on Saturday, 28th May 2016. The Aerobic Gymnastics Competition will take place on Sunday, 29th May 2016.
Acrobatic gymnastics will see gymnasts perform intricate gymnastic balances and dynamic throws in the air. These routines also include dance movements which have been choreographed to the style of music selected.
Acrobatic Gymnastics perform either in pairs or groups. In each partnership, you have a base partner and a top partner. With groups, you have 2 base partners and 1 top partner. The Acrobatic Gymnastic routines are judged according to artistry, execution and difficulty of the skills performed.
All levels of Acrobatic Gymnastics will be on display at the Arnold Classic 2016. There will be 150 gymnasts who will participate in the Acrobatic Gymnastics Competition.
