World Powerlifing Congress

Established by Ernie Frantz in 1986. The World Powerlifting Congress consists of 46 countries worldwide that participate in an annual World Championships. We provide competitive and outstanding Powerlifting meets, and are successfully known as “a lifter’s organization.” We pride ourselves on the fact that the vast majority of our officials are active lifters who appreciate fair and consistent judging. The WPC supports the interest of the lifter with constant review of the rules.

Amateur World Powerlifting Congress – AWPC

WPC:SA is affiliated internationally to the above Congress and all our records, competitions and actions are approved and sanctioned by them.  They regulate our testing and evaluate each disabled lifter's situation, to mention two of many of the features that make us unique.   We have regional coordinators in each province which arrange regional, club and development competitions and workshops during the year.  We also have a whatsapp group where athletes are kept up to date on developments, new and exciting competitions.

We are going to hold our SA Championships at the Arnold classics.  We already received permission for the breaking of National and International records at the event.  We draw crowds of about 500 people per day.

We believe in the spirit of the Arnold Classics and all our trophees (31 trophees) will be hand made by either disabled or disadvantaged communities.

We would like to have more disabled athletes as we are focusing on them to try and get more work done in this area as few competitive power sports provide for disabled athletes as well as expand our Amateur / tested footprint.
