The Citywide Kiddies Games is an annual event which is the culmination of regional kiddies games, emanating from the development program focusing on children aged 5 and 6.

Children between the ages of 5 and 6 who attend preschool or crèche are eligible for participation on the day, participating in sporting activities like ball throwing, ball dribbling, ball kicking, bean bag running, ball hopping, relay and ring throwing.

Competition element, which is not the prime objective of the event but rather socialization, skills development, and social cohesion.

Cognitive as well as physical development is critical in contributing to the holistic development of the child. In training creche teachers and parents Kiddies Games activities and provide the platform to showcase these skills the Sport and Recreation contribute to skills development and instilling a healthy physically active lifestyle.
Coupled to this is the instilling of good sportsmanship and fair play that is the basis of all competitive and professional sport. These games expose children to sport in a fun way with the emphasis on enjoyment and participation, rather than competition and winning.
This year the Kiddies Games will be incorporated in the Arnold Sports Festival at the Ruimsig Stadium on 19 May.  Kids will be exposed to the festival atmosphere, the excitement of the Sports Village, Cartoon characters and much more!
