The Tenpin Bowling Association of South Africa (TBASA) is the recognised official governing body of the sport of Ten-Pin Bowling in South Africa.
It is the sanctioning body recognised by World Bowling, the sport's world governing body to organise competitions in South Africa, and is responsible for the growth and development of the sport. It is also affiliated to BFA (Bowling Federation Africa, Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Federation, as well as SASCOC.
TBASA is responsible for the award of official coaching qualifications for the sport in South Africa.
TBASA organises competitions at all levels of development and was behind the founding of the continental governing body World Bowling Africa in 2016, to establish and develop the African zone of tenpin bowling in conjunction with World Bowling. In April 2018, TBASA attended a Bowling Congress, whereby the African Zone was officially formed, which was mandated by World Bowling. The BFA was formed with 5 African Countries.
TBASA holds national competitions for singles, teams and seniors (over 50). We also hold Interprovincial Championships annually.
Tenpin Bowling as a sport is all inclusive, from youth to seniors of 70+ can participate, men and women. Leagues are held throughout SA at various Bowling Centre’s.
Affiliated to TBASA is 7 Provinces, namely: Central Gauteng, Eastern Gauteng, Northern Gauteng, Kwazulu Natal, Midlands, Western Province and Eastern Province. Each Province has a “home” centre, where they host local tournaments. Leagues are also held at these centres. TBASA hosts National Championships throughout the year. Information on these Tournaments can be found on our website. TBASA also selects Teams to participate in World Bowling Championships in countries across the world.
