About Ropeskipping


The sport of gymnastics will feature at the Arnold Classic Africa. Gymnastics is governed by the South African Gymnastics Federation (SAGF) under the auspices of the Africa Gymnastics Union (UAG) and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).

Gymnastics is comprised of various “disciplines” each entailing their own apparatus requirements, rules and regulations.


These “disciplines” are

- Men’s Artistic Gymnastics

- Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

- Rhythmic Gymnastics

- Acrobatic Gymnastics

- Rope Skipping

- Gym for All


Additionally, there is Schools Gymnastics which comprises a few disciplines mentioned above.

Gymnastics in South Africa is further affiliated to Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) and South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) bodies.

The Federation is actively involved from grassroots development to elite gymnastics in all the 9 Provinces of South Africa, with the assistance of its provincial affiliates.


Gymnastics at the Arnold Classic

The gymnastics disciplines which will be competing at the Arnold Classic will be those of Acrobatic Gymnastics, Rope skipping and Gym for All.

In addition, these gymnasts including an Aerobic and Rhythmic gymnasts will partake in various activations.

What is Gym for all? - 4X4 Fitness Program

The South African Gymnastics Federation (SAGF) designed a new functional fitness program called 4 x 4 Fitness. The 4 x 4 fitness program is a fast way of keeping fit and takes less than 10 minutes/day.

We would like you to share your photos/videos of the day and reward the best participation with a certificate, which will be sent to you after the event.

This program focuses on the following 4 elements

  • Cardiovascular
  • Strength ( Upper Body )
  • Strength ( Legs )
  • Strength ( Abs/core )



  • Primary school children (6-12 years)
  • Senior Phase / High School (13-18 years)
  • Adults (19 – 49 years)
  • Seniors (50+)



  • In the class room / aftercare
  • At the school / sport field
  • At the office/ outdoor leisure
  • At home / recreational facility


How :

  • Register your institution/club, school with SA Gymnastics
  • Do each activity for 30 seconds. Once all 4 activities are complete, repeat the cycle 3 more times = 4 x 4
