About Karate SA

KARATE  today is an OLYMPIC sport  !

Karate a Global Sport  is practiced thro’out the globe with over 200 countries affiliated to the World karate federation (WKF)

After many years of struggle the noble sport of Karate was  finally during the RIO Olympics (Aug 2016)  elevated to OLYMPIC status

The sport since then is literally “ going through the roof” in terms of growth moreover certainly a golden period for the sport as its youth  prepare for the “ youth” Olympics 2018  and more importantly the Tokyo Olympics 2020

As a member of the World karate federation Technical board I can bear testimony to the fact that the sport is becoming more and more sophisticated rules are currently being simplified and modified to meet modern day standards in terms of presentation in a tournament environment

In the final analysis the  said  current set of rules to be introduced for 2018  by the WKF ( rules commission ) is expected to make the sport very exciting indeed ! moreover spectator friendly

As President of  Karate South Africa  (KSA) my fervent wish is that karate is used as a catalyst to shape the future of today’s youth who remain very challenged with several abhorrent diseases such as drug and alcohol abuse amidst others
