About Down Syndrome

The Down Syndrome Association of Pretoria/Tshwane is a Public Benefit Organization (PBO) / Non-Profit Section 18A organization (NPO)  that provides support to persons with Down syndrome and their families.

Our core focus is: improving the lives of all persons with Down syndrome.

Our services include:
  • New parent Support and counselling;
  • Hospital and Clinic visits;
  • Weekly ECD early intervention therapy;
  • Outreach support in Atteridgeville; Ga-rankuwa; Mamelodi; Soshanguve; Hammanskraal and Thembisa;
  • Self Help support groups;
  • Parent Empowerment mornings and workshops;
  • Education support for children, parents and teachers;
  • Daily School to Work skills development;
Programme
  • Weekly Sports development program;
  • Awareness campaigns;
  • Social Age Group get-togethers;
  • Weekly Self-Advocate sessions;
  • Awareness talks at hospitals/schools/businesses;
  • Whatsapp support groups – sharing of information/education materials etc.
